How Export Works
Android based devices
To find the export menu, click on the form's options menu and select 'Export Data'
The mobile data export feature technically transfers all saved records from the selected form to your device's memory for back up purposes. Once you hit the 'Export Data' menu, a folder is created in your phone known as 'Magpi Exports' and all the data that was created on this form is sent to this location. The files are saved in .xml format.
You can also upload these xml files directly to magpi.com. However, we have optimized the app in ways that have prevented upload issues: so if for any reason your device has upload failure issues, it is easier to troubleshoot on device. If come across any issues uploading data from your device, please write to email@example.com, we're happy to help you get around this issue.
J2ME based phones
Files exported from the J2ME platfrorm are saved in a .txt format inside the phone memory where the Magpi application is saved. You can also open it using Excel among other file viewers.
